Minister of Defence Jüri Luik appointed Kristjan Prikk as the Undersecretary for Defence Policy. Prikk most recently served as the Director of National Security and Defence Coordination Unit at the Government Office of Estonia. Prikk has also worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has led international cooperation in the Ministry of Defence. He is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Tartu and holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. Kristjan Prikk has completed conscript service, is a reserve officer and member of the Defence League. Prikk will begin work at the Ministry of Defence starting from July. The Undersecretary for Defence Policy heads international activity in the Ministry of Defence and develops collective defence policy. In this capacity he heads the work of the Policy Planning Department, the International Co-operation Department, and NATO and the European Union Department. The Undersecretary will guide the Ministry of Defence during the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
